In this article, it is noteworthy that the explanatory definitions of the feeling of jealousy in the psychology literature and the similarities and differences of the feeling of jealousy in human relations and lives are discussed. The main purpose of this article is to examine and investigate the effect of jealousy in psychopathology and the empirical studies on the relationship between jealousy and psychopathology in detail. In addition, the role of jealousy and envy in psychopathology is to consider the effectiveness of these two emotions.
Jealousy is a negative emotion that arises in bilateral or human relations in general and shakes relationships deeply. This feeling emphasizes that there are similarities as well as important differences in bilateral or human relations. Some studies support that this emotion can have an impact on the emotions and behaviors of the individual by evaluating himself, and in this way, differences can arise. The feeling of jealousy is exactly related to the individual's own self. Jealousy threatens the self as both emotion and behavior. Therefore, if jealousy is at an extreme chronic level, it causes the individual to experience social adaptation problems. In this respect, studies on the feeling of jealousy in psychopathology vary. Therefore, first of all, attention has been paid to the pathological implications of psychoanalytic theories to a large extent. In recent years, the concepts of psychoanalysis in the psychopathology of jealousy have been given a significant place. Empirical studies in terms of the relationship between jealousy and psychopathology have remained in the background of theories on the subject because they are insufficient in measuring jealousy. There is also research on the relationship between jealousy and gender.
