Abstract

One of the most debated and challenging topics of our time is climate change. While the causes of climate change are discussed, it is an indisputable fact that every individual should make an effort to realize the possible economic, ecological, and social effects on human beings, who are the main members of the environment, and to leave a more livable world for future years by developing sustainable solutions. The first step to be taken in solving climate change problems is to raise individuals who are sensitive to the environment, conscious, and actively participate in solving the problems. Since the realization of the problem and raising individuals at an early age will be effective both in the formation of different perspectives on solutions and in the development of environmental awareness in society, schools and teachers who aim to make individuals compatible with the world they live in have important responsibilities. The aim of this study is to give general information about global climate change and to reveal how primary school science teachers associate climate change with the curriculum, their awareness level, and the adequacy of their training in order to increase students' awareness of the causes of climate change, its possible effects and how to combat the problem.
