THE ARCHAIC WORDS IN BİSMİL (DİYARBAKIR) DIALECT

The words which are included in a language’s earlier times and have fallen out of use are covered as archaic expressions. Archaic words help determine historical change and development of a language. Moreover, these words offer clues on social and cultural lives of individuals living language in every sense within historical process and their interaction with other languages and cultures.
In this study, archaic vocabulary detected in Bismil Dialect (Başkan, 2012) were compared with thirteen (13) of major works that reflect Old and Middle Turkish periods and identified thirteen (13) archaic words have been evaluated alphabetically. Also, it was indicated in which works and in what way these words takes place. Thus, historical syllabus of these words which were not able to access standard language or which could reach by going through phonetic changes were shown. Hereby, it is aimed to demonstrate the rich vocabulary of Turkish language and form an awareness on the depth of Turkish language roots.
