In the space, the door, which is defined as the wall or partition space, which is the opening and closing mechanism when entering and exiting, has various meanings such as socio-cultural, political, literary, artistic and religious. Doors are developed and shaped in line with the factors that depend on the climate, structural features and culture of the region where the buildings are located and are the elements that make up the language of both people and places. The door is the socio-cultural and economic expression of the user of the space. Doors have the task of connecting the spaces, providing the function of switching from the interior to the exterior, from the exterior to the interior or from one place to another. In addition, doors have duties such as temperature, water, moisture, noise, dust, insect protection, insulation, providing vision and light when necessary, and communicating. When the historical processes of the doors, which have many types and duties, are examined, it is seen that they have not changed much in terms of form in terms of shape, variety and material usage for thousands of years. In today's architectural interpretation, the doors are saved only from the meaning of a passage on the wall, and they are treated as movable partitions in the size of the wall, allowing the spaces to fuse when desired. In this study, it has been examined how the doors, which are of great importance for people, places and even cities, have evolved in various periods of history and are predicted how they will be in the future, and their importance in terms of space, design and other determining elements has been emphasized. Within the scope of the study, the development of the doors has been examined in prehistoric, ancient civilizations, medieval, renaissance, 19th century, 20th century and the sub-titles of the period until today. The limited number of written sources about the historical development of architectural space elements reveals the importance of this study
