In this study, it has been tried to find out to what extent music teacher candidates who receive piano education can analyze a piano piece before starting to study. In the study, the piano piece analysis form developed by Bakıoğlu (2019) was used. Data were collected and arranged during the spring semester final exams of the 2019 - 2020 academic year. The students in the study group analyzed a piano piece that was given to them as a study task with the help of the analysis form. With the help of a known statistical program, the data were analyzed and compared according to gender and class variables. In the light of the data obtained, it was observed that the students' ability to analyze a piano piece was at a good level, and this level did not make a significant difference according to gender and grade variables.
