Abstract

In this study, the relationship between the achievements of piano, individual instrument and musical hearing lessons of the students who taking music teacher education was examined. Within the scope of the study, the course achievement scores of the study group were obtained in the spring semester of 2018-2019 academic year. The achievement scores of piano, individual instrument and musical hearing lessons obtained from the information system of the university were transferred to computer. While the scores obtained were coded into the system as midterm and final exams, the final score was also calculated. The achievement scores of the pre-service teachers were grouped according to the classes and transferred to the statistical software and measurements were made. Firstly, the normal distribution assumption was tested and nonparametric measurements were performed because the data did not support the normal distribution assumption. Spearman Brown correlation coefficient was measured in comparison of achievement scores. Kruskal Wallis H test was used in the comparisons for class level. The results indicate that the relationship between these three courses is mid-level and positive, and that the relationship between the piano and musical hearing lessons decreases as the grade level increases
